Canadian Family Memorializes their Son Cindy and Doug Smith of Winnipeg, Canada, have donated $20,000 to Taylor’s Tale in memory of their son, Brandon, who lost his battle with infantile NCL (infantile Batten disease) on November 1. He was eight years old. The Smiths founded A Fight for Brandon shortly after Brandon was diagnosed in fall 2003. Though he could never walk or talk, Brandon, also known as ‘Kid Courageous,’ was an inspiration to all who knew him during his short life. “He taught us to dance in the rain,” said his mother shortly after his passing. “Life is not waiting for the storm to pass. It’s learning to dance in the rain.” A cure couldn’t come quickly enough for Brandon, but Taylor’s Tale is ready to take on the charge of continuing the fight for all of the children – and their families – who suffer from Batten disease. His parents’ gift will help ensure that promising research is allowed to continue for another year. His story has inspired us to keep dancing in the rain. Learn more about A Fight for Brandon by visiting their Web site here and reading our blog post about his courageous battle.
